marian@kisd.deMarian Steinbachs personal blog.Schema and Visualization for historical Data- February 18, 2004 The HEML (Historical Event Markup and Linking) Project attempts to create a XML-based standard for the description of historical event data. This should facilitate the exchange and linking of timespace data visualization. Examples on the website show from the life of Alexander mapped in different versions (timeline, geospacial map). Currently the display code is made for Cocoon. Anyway, the more interesting part is most likely the standardization effort of data that is nearly of universal...http://kisd.de/~marian/?article=40&lang=en A Guide to Institutional Repository Software- February 16, 2004 The Budapest Open Access Initiative offers an overview on several document archive systems. The covered systems are DSpace, ARNO, CDSware, EPrints, Fedora, i-TOR and MyCoRe. I am very pleased to find MyCoRe, a successor of MILESS (see last posting), within that list. I worship their ambitions (and their good...http://kisd.de/~marian/?article=38&lang=en Personal Graphs- February 3, 2004 Again from the critical mass department: It was also Kevin from OKCancel who pointed me to LinkedIn, a web platform that does nothing but help to maintain personal contacts, mainly for business purpose. A pretty nice thing if you're a) in search of a job or a project, b) offering a job or a project or c) just looking for the old co-workers who dissolved with the dot-com bubble. I wonder when LinkedIn is going to start graphically visualizing this network. TouchGraph LinkedIn Browser, I can see.http://kisd.de/~marian/?article=37&lang=en Jobs at OKCancel- February 3, 2004 Kevin and Tom of OKCancel, the weekly user interface comic on the web, from now on also publish job offerings in the field of user interface design and usability. As these forums only produce benefit when they are used by many people, and as they are only used by many people if they produce benefit... I hereby try to contribute to the fullfilling of both.http://kisd.de/~marian/?article=36&lang=en |
