Till so far Dell has not explained what went wrong with my order. The Dell system did not allow to change the order on the phone and did not allow for the...http://www.jroller.com/thomasdevos/entry/got_a_new_toy Re-Write Http Socket layer- November 26, 2003 Today I started a new position within an investment bank. After reading the documents, business requirements, analysis and design documentation I swapped over to browsing the current Java code into production. To my surprise, in a J2EE environment, I saw many basic and trivial components in house developed: connection pooling, parsing property files, caching, etc. The code is deployed under Websphere 5.0 ! My task will be to create web services, what shall I do Re-Write the HTTP socket...http://www.jroller.com/thomasdevos/entry/re_write_http_socket_layer Sun Certification exam 1.5- November 14, 2003 Currently Sun offers the following Java technology professional certifications: Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 platform Sun Certified Developer for the Java 2 platform Sun Certified Web Component Developer for the Java 2 platform, enterprise edition. I believe the unfair war between opensource MVC frameworks has started and I'm not planning to participate in this. However I'm interested to find out what benefits WebWorkXwork can mean for our sites. Currently the web-sites are based on Struts and the Sun J2EE blueprints, we have taken the best of each and integrated them together. Under some circumstances it was very painful, but also flexible, I'm not going into...http://www.jroller.com/thomasdevos/entry/webwork_vs_struts Is it worth getting Sun Java Certified- November 12, 2003 I'm the founder of http:www.javacertificate.com and http:www.j2eecertificate.com and I'm wondering around lately if it is worthwhile to get certified I see these days many people passing the SCJP 1.4 exam because of the above websites and we are receiving many positive feedback on the questions. I have been able to follow people who were getting certified and afterwards got a job because they are certified, and I have also seen others that didn't know anything of Java and passed..http://www.jroller.com/thomasdevos/entry/is_it_worth_getting_sun J2EE components reusable- November 12, 2003 Since the introduction of J2EE companies are advertising how great it all will be. Write once, reuse everywhere! Reusable components should save up to 40% of development time and the probability of defects should be lower. That sounds great. The idea is that J2EE components are written once and reused everywhere. The reality is that J2EE components are written once and not reused anywhere. Check yourself, have a search for reusable components that tailor your business needs, I doubt if you can.http://www.jroller.com/thomasdevos/entry/j2ee_components_reusable Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer for J2ME- November 11, 2003 According to Sun's Wireless Developer Newsletter from 2810 it looks like a new certification exam is coming to us: SCMAD.
