Beef and Vegetable Aioli Platter - June 17, 2008

This is basically poached meat and vegetables that takes on an air of elegance and sophistication. A nice change of pace to serve at your summer get-together. Adapted from Good Food Magazine, July 1987. -- posted by JackieOhNo!

Cold Double-Berry Souffle - June 17, 2008

Souffles are generally for the ambitious, but they are well worth the effort. While this one is not your traditional kind (there is no rising involved and worries that it will collapse), this one can be made ahead and brought out for a show-stopping finale to your summmertime get-together. Prep time does not include 2 hours to chill. Adapted from Good Food Magazine, July 1987. -- posted by JackieOhNo!

Quick'n'easy U.s. Flag Gelatin Dessert - June 15, 2008

This gelatin dessert can actually be ready to present in half an hour, yet is beautifully elegant for U.S. patriotic holiday gatherings. I came up with the idea when I'd forgotten that I was supposed to bring my usual Flag Cake to a 4th of July picnic during a very hectic time. I had lots of red gelatin and berries on hand, but no pound cake, no whipped topping in the house, no time to go to the store, and only an hour to have something ready. Here it is... -- posted by Kimchi CQ

Real Texas Chili (Chili Con Carne) - June 10, 2008

In Texas, putting beans in chili is prohibited by state law. This recipe does not use beans. Nor does it use tomato sauce or paste, common ingredients in so called "award-winning" chili recipes. If you're looking for authentic chili, this one's the real McCoy; an authentic recreation of the chili that was served in the days of the trail drives - where chili is said to have originated. Take your sweet time making this chili...nice and slow. Good Texas chili has to have time to...

Holiday Ribbon Gelatin - June 8, 2008

I cut this out of a tast of home magazine. Layers of red and green make this a great holiday dish. Kids find it fun to eat and adults will love the combination of sweettart flavors. I have taken it to quite a few family holiday celebratons and I always take home an empty dish. Cooking time is the over night chill in fridge and the time for the lime layer to gel in fridge. -- posted by Chef 842751

Sour Cream Babka - June 7, 2008

From Cooking Light: "Russian immigrants gloried in Easter babkas - enriched yeast breads studded with dried fruits and nuts. For a more traditional babka, omit the amaretto and use dried sour cherries and candied cherries in place of cranberries and raisins."
