A day in the life of an American Parisian - June 25, 2008

Sure, it's important to study hard and get good grades when studying abroad - or at least that's what we tell our parents. But for the most part, students travel abroad to enjoy the culture and night life, even if that means pulling a few all-nighters (or as we say in French, "nuit blanches") in the process.

'Get Smart' needs higher IQ - June 25, 2008

"Get Smart" is one of those movies that is so tragically mediocre that it is difficult to find anything interesting to say about it. With Steve Carell as the lead, "Get Smart" instantly goes the comedy route, yet it also tries to be an action movie. It doesn't, however, really succeed in being either.

Super Soak the heat and fun out of L.A.'s stifling summer - June 25, 2008

The heat wave that paralyzed Los Angeles over the weekend gave USC a surprisingly bitter taste of what appeared to be nothing but a sweet, blissful summer. Droves of students pained with lethargy, either in their homes, slovenly sprawled across the sofa, or in their cars, inching along the 10 freeway in hopes of finding just a smidgen of free space on a packed strip of sand.

As summer sets in and the number of students on campus decreases, so do the sales of local businesses around USC, according to local business owners. Insinity Communications' owner Carlos Huezo said his business, located in the University Village, next to Baskin-Robbins and across from Superior, drops almost 45 percent in revenue during the summer.
