Up to 20,000 north London pupils have turned into "sound detectives" this week as part of the Walk to School campaign. To mark the launch of Walk to School week, pupils from Coldfall Primary are also partaking in a noise pollution project in association with the Open University. This involves measuring noise around the school before and during the Walk to School week, and is aimed at highlighting the extra noise generated by school traffic and its impact on children&039;s learning.

The Money Programme - May 20, 2008

The Money Programme returns for a new series. The eight programmes will explore current issues such as the credit crunch. Fiona Bruce interviews Bill Gates as he is about to step down from Microsoft, and gold, government-backed investment funds, music festivals and women entrepreneurs will also be explored. Sesame Correction - May 19, 2008

Please note that there was an error on page 25 of the Summer 2008 (issue 237) edition of Sesame. A student was described as having counted "transferred credit for an A Level in Music" towards an OU degree. We cannot award transferred credit for A Levels, as these are below higher education level - the student was actually awarded her credit in recognition of her partially-completed degree studied at another university.

Adult Learners Week is taking place between 17 and 23 May, and The Open University is planning a series of events throughout the country. A new-improved student and alumni magazine will be winging its way to students and alumni right now. The new magazine, which retains the name of the popular student magazine Sesame, comes as a result of research which took place during late 2007 where approximately 15,000 students and alumni were surveyed. Child of Our Time returns - May 1, 2008

Child of Our Time returns to BBC One in May. The series, which is co-produced by The Open University and the BBC, will continue the &039;journey of a lifetime&039; as it explores the lives of today&039;s children.
