Mr. Jean-Jacques Gauer, chairman of the executive committee of The Leading Hotels of the World, has announced that Paul M. McManus, president and chief executive officer of the organization, will assume the post of vice chairman of Leading Ventures, effective September 1, 2008. STR reports U.S. hotel Pipeline for July 2008 - August 15, 2008

The U.S. hotel development pipeline includes 5,943 hotels with 660,928 rooms according to the July STRTWRDodge Construction Pipeline Report released this week. This represents a 0.5-percent decrease in rooms over June and an 18.1-percent increase over July 2007. Of the total pipeline, 200,604 rooms are not currently affiliated with a brand or chain.

STR reports U.S. hotel performance for the week ending 09 August 2008 - August 14, 2008

The U.S. hotel industry posted declines in the key performance metrics of occupancy and revenue per available room during the week of 03 09 August, according to data from STR. In year-over-year measurements, the industrys occupancy fell 4.0 percent to end the week at 71.2 percent. Average daily rate increased 2.3 percent to finish the week at US$107.55.
