Games * Design * Art * Culture

Serious gamoid drivel, ranging from the scholarly to the snide. Sercon, if you know the term, but not devoid of humor.

Restaurant Empire - July 27, 2004

SimTycoon games don't get a lot of respect, at least from the hardcore. They're viewed as not sufficiently cool--slower paced, not dependent on twitch mastery, and mainly for the kids. This has always struck me as odd, at least the "for the kids" part; after all, in terms of interface, algorithmic intensity, and strategic planning, these games are far more demanding to play than many other game styles. Except, of course, that they don't require you to live or die on the basis of your ability to.
