My last contract, I tried to get the IT department to allow a Google group, or a Wiki. They wouldn't even allow for Share Point. So, I ended up managing by email, as usual. In fairness, they are putting in a new enterprise PM system, but then only a few key people had licenses to it. The rest of the project team had no access at all. I couldn't even get some members of the team access to a network share. Enough of the rant.
