The question itself is absurd. It's further evidence that people are incapable of separating things like race, gender and physical size, from real attributes of relevance. When we begin to assess the quality of project managers by how well they reach the objective, rather than how popular they are, or how loud they are, or how well liked they are by senior management, then projects will begin to proceed smoothly. If we somehow collect the 1

Comment by Larry Cone on What I Learned from Aeronautical Engineering - Part 1 - June 21, 2008

Thanks, Mithun I appreciate the feedback. I was struck by the simularity of the stress curve between aerodynamics and the successful project - all smiles at beginning and end, and massive dynamic pressure in the middle.I wondered if there were also simularities in the components making up the stress equation, and if insights could be gained by the comparison. There is a part 3 to this post, where I bring it all back to take-away lessons for Project Managers. I wrote all three pa

Larry,Your post really makes me think. The comparison between aeronautics and project management is awesome. Just the way the dynamics of a projectile could be calculated at any given point, I believe that one could determine the dynamics of a project at any given point using the Earned Value Techniques. As the behavior of a rocket is dependent on various factors, the dynamics of any
