Men's Water Polo Defeats Pomona 8-4 in First Round - November 17, 2007

Men's water polo coach Keith Wilbur struggled earlier this week when asked who he expected to come up big in the WWPA Championships this weekend. "I don't want to name one person," he said, "because we have so many guys who are capable of stepping up in any given game." That mentality held true for the Broncos Friday as they defeated Pomona Pitzer 8-4 in the first round of the WWPA Championships. Seven different players scored on the eight goals in the game.

Men's Water Polo Heads to Air Force for WWPA Championships - November 15, 2007

The Santa Clara men's water polo team will travel to Colorado Springs this weekend where they will compete in the WWPA Championships, hosted by Air Force Academy. Following a 16-11 season in which the Broncos went 11-4 in their conference, Santa Clara earned a birth as the No. 2 seed in the WWPA Championships, the highest in the school's history. The team will face off against Pomona-Pitzer in the first round on Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. (MT).

Four Broncos Take Home WWPA Honors - November 15, 2007

Four Santa Clara men's water polo players earned All-WWPA Honors today for the 2007 season. Senior Tommy Kelly was named to the All-WWPA 1st Team, senior Robert Callahan was named to the All-WWPA Second Team, junior Tommy Hendrickson was named All-WWPA Honorable Mention, and freshman Nicholas Poggetti was named to the All-Freshman Team.

Men's Water Polo Earns No. 2 Seed in Upcoming WWPA Championships - November 12, 2007

The Santa Clara men's water polo team received the highest seeding in school history today, earning the No. 2 seed in the upcoming WWPA Championships hosted by Air Force Academy. The Broncos went 16-11 on the season and 11-4 against the WWPA. The team will meet Pomona-Pitzer in the first round, Friday, Nov. 16 at 5:00 p.m. (MT). The Broncos defeated Pomona-Pitzer earlier this season 10-6 at the Convergence Classic. Pomona is fresh off a championship is the SCIAC tournament this past weekend.

The Santa Clara men's water polo team closed out their regular season today, losing 13-6 to No. 4 Stanford. The Broncos finish their year at 16-12 and are going into next week's WWPA championships.

Men's Water Polo Falls to UC Davis 11-6 - November 5, 2007

The Santa Clara men's water polo team took on UC Davis for their final conference game and home game of the year, but could not come away with the win. The 11-4 loss was the third time the Broncos have fallen to conference leader Davis this year.
