I know that the engine cases are quite thin therfore the engine is "noisey" and I have always been able to hear a ticking noise when idling without my lid on. It consumes a little oil now, about 3-4 ounces every 500 miles. Otherwise it runs like new. I want to keep the bike and was hoping to get at least 50k out of the engine. I've been riding & racing dirt bikes all my life than got into the street in 2001 on a new Honda F4i, did some tracks days at Willow and Laguna Seca, then traded in the F4i for a new 2003 Honda RC51, fell in luv with it but then shortly after, I got taken out by someone crossing double yellow lines into the carpool lane right into me ... well 5 years later now I finally jumped back onto the horse and picked up this 2001 Honda RC51 last week.
