STORRS, Conn. - The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team dropped a 5-4 decision Sunday afternoon against Connecticut. Maine fell to 4-25-3 and 3-13-3 in Hockey East while UConn improved to 22-5-5 and 13-3-3 in Hockey East.

Skating Strides raises over $5,500 for breast cancer charities - February 21, 2008

Maine women's hockey hosted a Women's Hockey East Skating Strides game last weekend which helped raise over $5,500 for breast cancer charities. The Black Bear women's hockey team was able to help fight for cure thanks to the generous contributions from fans attending the Saturday, February 16 game against Boston College.

Genevieve Turgeon Named Best Defensive Player for Sixth Time - February 19, 2008

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - For the sixth week this season, University of Maine junior goaltender Genevieve Turgeon was named Hockey East's Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week. Turgeon stopped 80 out of 83 shots in Maine's two games against Boston College this weekend with 39 coming in the first game and 41 coming in the second. She had a save percentage of .964 and a GAA of 1.46 on the weekend. Turgeon has six weekly awards and one monthly award so far this season.

Women's Ice Hockey Falls in Overtime to BC 2-1 - February 18, 2008

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team dropped a game Sunday afternoon against Boston College by a score of 2-1. Maine fell to 4-23-3 and 3-11-3 in Hockey East while Boston College improved to 12-12-6 and 7-8-2 in Hockey East. Maine goaltender Genevieve Turgeon set yet another school record in the game. The game was her 67th career game played. First place was previously held by Amanda Cronin who played 66 games from 1998-2002.
