Planet UbuntuPlanet Ubuntu - http://planet.ubuntu.com/Rubn Romero: An intro- September 17, 2008 I have decided to join you all here in the planet, so let&8217;s make a little intro: I&8217;m a 27 years old Ubuntu addict. I do what I can to contribute with whatever I can to the community. Have been a GNULinux user for over 10 years, but started to contribute to free software first when Ubuntu crossed my path in the beginning of 2005. I&8217;m all excited about things I&8217;m doing lately, so allow me to give you all a quick update: I have started working as a Free Software Sales...http://huayra.wordpress.com/2008/09/17/an-intro/ Matt Zimmerman: Greg Kroah-Hartmans Linux Ecosystem- September 17, 2008 As the opening keynote at the Linux Plumbers Conference, Greg Kroah-Hartman delivered a talk entitled &8220;The Linux Ecosystem, where do you fit in it&8220; There were, let&8217;s say, a few elements of it which I found objectionable. The central issue, of course, was that he devoted a large portion of the talk to showing that Canonical contributes fewer patches to the Linux kernel than many other companies. While it&8217;s somewhat flattering for Canonical&8217;s role in the community to be a.http://mdzlog.wordpress.com/2008/09/17/greg-kh-linux-ecosystem/ Ubuntu Release blog: Main frozen for intrepid alpha-6- September 17, 2008 The main component of intrepid is frozen in preparation for the next milestone, alpha 6. Thing is &8230; not that long ago, I&8217;d already asked about peoples naming schemas I had hoped to start a meme with that post. Obviously madduck was more successfulhttp://www.sourceguru.net/archives/154 Andres Rodriguez: Back On Track- September 17, 2008 After a few weeks of being very very busy&8230; I finally have finished most of the things I had to do and finally have some time to continue contributing to Ubuntu. The first thing I&8217;ve done, is to add some ideas to brainstorm and apply for JJ UDS Sponsorship. My Ideas are the following: Ubuntu Centralized Image InstallationRecoveryBackup Centralized Cluster Administration Now, as you may know, translations are open again so let&8217;s start translating. I'm pretty sure I've read this before somewhere... Just throwing that out there ....http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/JorgesStompbox/~3/395390247/dear-internet.html Stephan Hermann: Jono Turned 29, Discussions on ubuntu-bugs this morning- September 17, 2008 Two things: 1. Happy Birthday to you, Jono ! 2. Discussion on how to use nominations for bugreports on LP and how to deal with bugs which are assigned and in progress by people! For the second point: we had a heated discussion about that, I think most of you will know where to find the irclogs for that. So I don't refer to the topic. What I wanted to say is, that Nullack and I had a talk in the backyards, and I told him, that no, even hot blooded discussion, is meant personally. At...http://www.sourcecode.de/content/jono-turned-29-discussions-ubuntu-bugs-morning Emma Jane Hogbin: Screenshot tools- September 17, 2008 I'm writing a book. It's very exciting. As part of the book I have to take a lot of screen shots. A few weeks ago I was in Hungary for DrupalCon. There were a lot of Mac users. They all had a fancy tool called Skitch for taking screenshots. Skitch allows you to easily take a snapshot and then annotate the screenshot and then upload it to the web. How cool is that! (Very cool if you're doing UI work, sort of overkill if you're a regular person.) Excellent for UI design, excellent for sharing...http://www.emmajane.net/node/832 |
