Identity theft junk can be described as something that potrays itself as identity theft prevention yet puts the customer at potential risk for stolen identity. Case in point "LifeLock." Lifelock requests you to give them power of attorney over your personal identity information and then asks you to trust them while they store your info on their company server. In our opinion the very first step one must take to prevent identity theft is to secure their private information.Having your private information stored on a company server defeats this purpose and places you at risk for identity theft. Apparently Kaplan Fox is investigating consumer claims against LifeLock, Inc. See here: LifeLock being investigatedLifeLock co-founder Robert Maynard, Jr early on resigned amid a newspaper article that disclosed Maynard's past bankruptcies and a federal investigation into a previous company he owned. Apparently there was no merit to those claims but LifeLock continues to operate in lieu of a class action lawsuit filed by one of their customers.
