For relational databases, the main players in are McKoi SQL, which recently had a 1.0 release, and HSQLSB, a follow-on to the older Hypersonic SQL database. Axion is another relational database. PointBase and Cloudscape offer commercial databases written in Java. These are often used in embedded environments. Ozone provides an Object datbase, or ODBMS.
