St. Louis Barbequed Pork Steaks - May 27, 2008

Grilling, then braising makes these BBQ pork steaks very tender. Economical pork shoulder steaks have a lot of flavor, but can be tough. Here's a popular St. Louis way to cook them until they're fork tender, a recipe I found at a web blog. You can also prepare these in the oven. For the grill you will need an aluminum roasting pan. -- posted by ninja

Kathy's Teatime Fruit Cocktail Cake - May 22, 2008

This is a light, delightful cake that I got the recipe for while visiting Kathy in rural Arizona. Lovely on those hot, dry days and a perfect accompaniment for social teatime gatherings! I couldn't find a duplicate on here, so I am posting it for safekeeping (found the recipe wadded up in my purse upon my return...) -- posted by Pookatron

Indiana Sugar Pie - May 20, 2008

"Of all the recipes in my first cookbook, the one that elicted the most affectionate response was the brown sugar pie, which is an old Pennsylvania Dutch favorite. Sometimes called a milk pie or poor man's pie, these sugar pies were generally made from the scraps of leftover pie pastry, filled with milk or cream and some sugar, and thickened with flour. It was such a casual pie that it was prepared right in the shell." - Marcia Adams, HEARTLAND Author -- posted by Chef Matt 1

Supreme Pasta Salad - May 19, 2008

An Italian pasta salad with meat, cheese, veggies. I like it better when the veggies are chopped small. It takes a long time to chop up the veggies, so sometimes I like to throw them in the food processor and pulse them a few times. Enjoy! -- posted by aHardDaysNight

Hellmann's the Original Potato Salad - May 19, 2008

A longtime favorite of my family. We don't have an outdoor summer gathering without this and Hellmann's Classic Pasta Salad. Can't go wrong with these delicious recipes. FYI: because of the mayo content, we put the bowl of salad into a slightly larger-sized bowl filled halfway with ice to keep the salads cold and fresh. -- posted by aHardDaysNight

Spinach Salad With Candied Cashews - May 18, 2008

The cashews give the salad a nice sweet crunch. You can make your cashews ahead, and store them in an airtight container until needed to save some time at dinner. -- posted by Sue L

West Indies Guava Barbecue Sauce - May 16, 2008

I created this recipe a few years ago and is my personal recipe. This sauce was meant to be put on ribs, but works on other things. -- posted by Sue L

Dj's Coffee Braid - May 16, 2008

A favorite recipe I found several years ago. I was offered a piece of this at a local function. After I got my portion, I noticed that it was going fast, so I asked for the recipe. If you like applesauce, peanut butter, and raisins, this might be for you. -- posted by Dj's Eagles
