It was submitted by a nun who did missionary work on a Pacific Island. The timing does not include the 3 hours for marinating. The original recipe calls for Spanish peppers, so you may adapt to what your family prefers. The chai instant drink mix is not available here in Australia but I was lucky enough to be given some in a swap. I love the blend of spices with the cocoa, it's really great. I used vanilla tea with mine so mine was more like a chocolate vanilla chai, I suppose you could experiment with things like caramel or even toffee tea too. It came out fantastic! This recipe make A LOT of salad, so I recommend cutting it by at least a half unless you're planning on feeding a lot of people. According to the recipe, it's best served the same day. Any longer than that and the ramen gets soggy. Also, it didn't have enough dressing, so I'd increase the amount of oil and vinegar.
