Wasaga Beach- June 25, 2006 Yesterday, Allen, Gregg and I spent the day at Wasaga Beach- the longest fresh water beach in the world! It's just an hour and a half outside of Toronto. It was a perfect day. It was an easy drive, we flew my kiteboarding kite and taught Gregg how to fly it (pictured above), rested in the powdery sand, played in the water for about an hour and a half (we had our snorkel gear on, but visibility was about 5 inches due to the waves), and practiced some beach volleyball. We then headed back to..http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/wasaga_beach.html Go Oilers! Er... Oh.- June 20, 2006 Good game tonight between the Oilers and the Hurricanes for the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes taking the win 3-1. Now is the obligatory time for all Canadians everywhere to point out how many 'Canes members are Canadian- there are 11.http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/go_oilers_er_oh.html Crysis- June 18, 2006 Take a look at this! On the left are real life photographs and on the right are images rendered with the Crysis game engine. Not bad! Crysis is a new FPS game (under development) by the makers of Far Cry. The amount of interaction with the environment is even better than what I've seen in Oblivion. Take a look at The Crysis web site here which contains a 14 minute demo video from E3. Thanks to Chris for sending this to me.http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/crysis.html Dead Corpse Lives!- June 16, 2006 I'm happy to announce registration of the Toronto arm of the Dead Corpse Society beach volleyball team! Our team will play Wednesday nights in Ashbridges Bay. It's a co-ed 6's rec team like I had back up north. The league is organized through Not So Pro which is the company I played intermediate beach volleyball with last fall wCary Jr. Linton- do you still have the original logo Al thinks he has his original t-shirt "somewhere". Did you start a franchise in L.A.http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/dead_corpse_liv.html Go Oilers!- June 15, 2006 Wow what a great game last night! I'd be wearing a Pisani jersey to work today if I had one. For those who missed it, Oilers squeezed in a 4-3 victory during overtime- while the Canes were on a power play! The 3 goals that the Hurricanes scored during the game were all during power plays, so when Oilers were down 1, I figured the cup was Carolina's. Now I think it's the Oilers. They have 2 games to win, but they played their best game so far last night and they've got momentum. I loved...http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/go_oilers.html Genius or Gorgeous- June 15, 2006 Here's a stupid quiz based on a conversation I had with Allen today... If you could choose one, would you rather be really smart or really gorgeous What do you think most people would choose What do you think would get you further in life Brad Pitt or Albert Einstein Charlize Theron or Roberta Bondar You decide...http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/clever_or_prett.html Megan in TO!- June 13, 2006 My neice Megan is in Toronto for her grade 8 trip. Tonight was family night and we got to visit for a couple hours. Here the 3 of us all are in the subway after dinner.http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/megan_in_to.html Casio Exilim- June 10, 2006 Dude was supposed to post that I bought him a Casio Exilim the other night as a gift, but didn't, so I'm posting about it instead. Great point-and-shoot digital camera- I did a lot of reviews and comparisons before buying. If he doesn't end up using it much, I'm gonna regift it to myself.http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/casio_exilim.html Debugging in IE- June 8, 2006 I've been modifying my blog slightly to be centre aligned, have a grey gradient background where there is no content and use relative instead of absolute positioning ('cause Gregg insists). All fairly easy enough... until I go to test in IE 6. IE 6 just hates CSS. Take a look at this page and check it in IE 6 on PC. See the right column won't stay near the top like it's supposed to What the heck! Help a fellow nerd out here... Also, checked it in IE 7 and it renders fine.http://www.guinevere.ca/archives/2006/06/debugging_in_ie.html |
