Ironic SPAM- November 23, 2004 So, I've been working on XFire, which is my Java SOAP libraryframeworkthingy. I'm guessing that its not pure coincidence that I received this message: Dear Sirs, we are a German Producer of Creme Soap and we got the information that you are also in the soap business so we want to offer you our Product : Creme Soap 150 grms at EUR 0,21 FOB Hamburg, Germany If intressted we can send you full details. brgds Svenhttp://envoisolutions.com/people/dan/archives/000083.html Yay ApacheCon 2004- November 15, 2004 I'm in Las Vegas, reporting live from ApacheCon. Lots of cool, very smart people here who its been a pleasure to meet. Some notes: Bob has some photos (they're from a camera phone - beware). BEA announced their Beehive release, which is what I've been working on lately. Check it out, its very cool stuff. "I've drunk the kool-aid" as Bob would say. There's been some interest in people using XFire. What I'm hearing is that JAX-RPC 2.0 is very important to people. What I'm also hearing...http://envoisolutions.com/people/dan/archives/000082.html XFire Future- November 12, 2004 Well, I finally got the XFire release out! Took longer than I expected (doesn't it always). But, hey, its actually been less than two months since the last release. So I'm following the open-source mantra of release early, release-often. And I'm trying not to follow the open-source mantra of bad-documentation. So, I've created a pretty hefty User's Guide. A lot has been going on. I've been working with the Beehive project for the last couple weeks. I must say, they got some really,...http://envoisolutions.com/people/dan/archives/000081.html Funniest Achewood Ever- November 5, 2004 This isn't new, but is the funniest Achewood ever. "robably due to the humidity his lighter took three tries." That about summarizes a lot of my sleep patterns.http://envoisolutions.com/people/dan/archives/000080.html XFire Update (Faster+Clients+Generators)- November 5, 2004 Well, today I finally buckled down and did something I'd been meaning to do: Take DOM out of the XFire Java Binding. For those who aren't familiar with XFire, the Java binding allows you to expose object models as SOAP services. While, I generally believe this is a bad thing, its a must have for a SOAP stack and is useful in some scenarios - especially for quick and dirty services. Instead of using a DOM api, the java bindig uses StAX now to parse the object model into memory. This gives..http://envoisolutions.com/people/dan/archives/000079.html Dear Eclipse Annotation Support- November 2, 2004 Dear Eclipse Developers, Your decision to not include annotation support until April 1st leaves me baffled. Your current schedule looks like this: M3(nov05) - generics M4(dec17) - autoboxing, static imports M5(feb18) - varargs, enums M6(apr01) - annotations Generics and Annotations are arguably the most important feature in J2SE5. Varargs, enums, autoboxing and static imports seem much less important. The many comments on your plan item support this. I ask you to please reconsider...http://envoisolutions.com/people/dan/archives/000078.html |
