Brownies are not part of a low fat, low carb lifestyle. - May 26, 2008

This is one of the things I got up to yesterday. Click for big, but if it makes you feel hungry don't blame me.The T&C people got together and recorded an hour and three minutes of blethering on, which I edited down to about 50 minutes. I may have to get it smaller; the resulting MP3 is about 44Mb, which seems a bit large for a podcast. Maybe, maybe not. I've found a use for my old minidisc gadget; it has a Mic input, which takes an external microphone and...

Everybody hates us; the Spanish entry was fvcking abysmal. Why do the pretty young things presenting the votes seem to treat their time on camera as an audition reel for their respective country's version of Big Brother

Indy: huge fun. I was never expecting it to be highbrow cinema, but apparently the critics were. Huge fun, a thoroughly enjoyable two hours of hokum. Plus a trailer for Dark Knight; added bonus. Perhaps too much was being made of Harvey Dent but I'm not going to quibble. I love days off, me.

Wee free hominids. - May 16, 2008

You never know what you'll see when wandering around on a campus university. I went for lunch and spotted these little characters. There were quite a lot of them; a considerable amount of work had gone into the collection, even though it's basically Domain Field in blue stuff. They made me grin, it has to be said, and even though I tried to find them there was nobody who looked like it was "their" piece hanging about. .

Something that struck me during the intro sequence to The Ipcress File: nobody knew how to use a cafetiere in 1965. Two spoons of coffee Even freshly ground that was never going to be tasty.Long weekends are a good thing. A very good thing. Yesterday was mostly spent indoors, reading. I did take the bike out for a spin, not-so-accidentally finding the farmer's market on the way (lemon curd, bread, humous, rhubarb, flapjacks, eggs that had been picked up that morning before they came out, which..

Adventures in using a Bronica ETRS.1: wind the film on properly. If you don't the shutter won't fire and you'll get cross. 2: remember to take the dark slide out. If you don't the shutter won't fire and you'll get cross.3: if the battery is dead, ditto.4: Don't accidentally open the film compartment after film has been loaded, otherwise you lose seven frames because the shutter won't cock until it thinks the leader paper has actually advanced the film into frame. 4a: In retrospect I should have.
