It's still on, so go & see Monkey! at the Playhouse. It's very good fun. Not having previously read a copy I bought a copy of the Waley translation. I'm looking forwards to reading it.

I've had enough sleep - or so my body is telling me, despite the whole being too tired to sit upright during QI thing last night - so I'm up and making crumpets, which are surprisingly easy to do. It's even easier to make pikelets, because you don't need any fancy equipment for those, although if you have straight pastry rings (as in, "not fluted or frilled", not as in "heterosexual", although how you'd tell is beyond me) you can use those instead of crumpet rings.Crumpet batter is basically...

Ribblesdale - June 15, 2008

Two more from the Holga.Early morning in Ribblesdale is very, very cool. Sunrise is lovely, it's very cold in winter and the mist hugs the ground like patches of cotton wool. These pics were taken from a trip a couple of years ago, now; they'd just sat in the camera until I finished off the roll, which I was quite remiss about doing.Firstly: mattbean peruses his compass. Showing the mist in the valley.

Woodhouse Moor - June 15, 2008

Stuff that came out of the Holga, part 1. It is rare that I see one of my pictures and instantly love it, right from the filmstrip, but when I unpacked the processed film earlier in the week this pic just blew me away. It's also one reason why I like slide film - normal colour C41 might not have worked on this. Saying that, though, this came out of the second simplest camera I own. You point it at stuff and hit the shutter. I got very lucky.

Who: normally the episode straight after a Moffatt is a bit rub by comparison. Not this one. Very impressed.Very impressed.Jewellery significance: http:purple-pen.livejournal.com273980.html (which is why I rarely buy jewellery as a present for anybody.)Yeah, ok. I'm sat with a (faintly embarrassed) cheesy grin on my face after reading that.

Off grid. - June 10, 2008

Hypothetically. There are a lot of creative people on my FL, many of whom I know IRL and are good friends. Many of us are fed up with werk. So, how about finding a disused stables, or something like that - a collection of smallish buildings surrounding a courtyard, with a slightly larger barn-type building next to it - squatting or renting or buying, and turning it into an art centre of some description Put up some signs - we all know how well middle-aged people on long road trips like to divert.

Need ice cream. Or ice lolly.Send now, plz.meltingWhat's your favourite type of thing to get from the ice cream van Are you a fan of the strawberry mivvi, or do you like Mr Whippy Magnums, or those Ribena push-up things Do you make your own ice lollies11: it's really easy. Ikea sell packs of four lolly holders. Buy some fruit juice - I like to get cheap clear apple juice - and pour it in a pan with some sugar and spices, and maybe some citrus peel and lemon juice. Cook it down until it's a bit..
