David's ScrapbookScrapbook for David MaduramMarathon in the ER- January 28, 2008 Argh, had to stay overnight yesterday at the hospital while shadowing. Usually I'll bring a medical journal or some USMLE questions to pass the time, but this time, I came with a PDA stocked with twenty-odd episodes of Naruto -- which I dare say, is one of the most enjoyable anime titles to marathon. It's got great steaming gobs of jealousy, hard work, and raw ambition, which exemplifies about 90% of what medical school is really all about (95 percent) Anyway, no real update this week. At UIUC, the white coat ceremony is held right after medical students move away from classroom stuff (i.e. learning pharmacology, pathology) and into the hospital (i.e. interacting with patients). This was actually the one med school subject that I was really worried about, so I pushed in gobs of time with friends to be able to pull off an entire one-hour long physical examination (see outline of physical exam). Anyway, so relieved it's over :) Anyway, in other news, R. sent me a link to the manga series Team Medical Dragon which "focuses around a genius..http://www.davidslife.com/journal/archives/january_2008/physical_exam_done.php India Recap- January 9, 2008 Whoa, delayed update -- in December, had a wonderful time shadowing in my mentor's cleft-lip surgery clinic, celebrating my big sister's wedding (above), and seeing ornate palaces: It's good to be back in med school and start studying again, but geez, I wish the weather in Urbana could be just a little more like the weather in India: Global warming isn't progressing fast enough :(http://www.davidslife.com/journal/archives/january_2008/india_recap.php |
