Carleton College Varsity Athletics News / PostsNews / Posts from Varsity AthleticsCarleton Alum Passes Away- July 25, 2008 Carleton alum, Mike Steel 97, age 33, passed away on July 16, 2008, in a tragic boating accident on the Tongue River Reservoir in Montana. At Carleton, Steel was a four-year starter for the Knights' football team and was a member of the Knights baseball team. He was named All-MIAC honorable mention in football in 1995, and was a leading tackler for the Knights in 1996. Steel graduated from Carleton with honors, and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Wyoming Law School.http://apps.carleton.edu/athletics/?story_id=432391 Women's Golf: Trio Lands on NGCA All-American Scholar Team- July 2, 2008 Katrina Wood, Sarah Ingebritsen and Laura Knutson were named to the National Golf Coaches Association's (NGCA) All-America Scholar team. The trio maintained cumulative grade-point averages of at least 3.50 and competed in at least 66 percent of Carleton's matches this past year.
