If your IT staff doesn't expect to be secure in their jobs, then they are going to focus more on those skills and knowledge that can be "ported" to the next company that employs them than on those skills and knowledge that are specific to the company that currently employes them. In 1980 Dan McCracken, an influential industry maven, wrote a landmark paper in which he proved pretty effectively that specification documents are a total waste of time and money. He suggested a methodology which looked pretty much like today's 'Agile,' and it had some influence at the time. Comment by "Ron Sonntag" on Google Chrome Beta Yet To Impress Me- September 8, 2008 Tried Chrome and it was quite a bit faster than IE 7. It even did a commendable job with SharePoint sites - a trick no other browser besides IE has managed. However, I found the favorites to be awkward to get to and I also experienced some snags with certain web sites, including Google's own! By comparison, IE 8 beta 2 is MUCH faster than both IE 7 and Chrome. IE 8 beta 2 is impressive once you get past the computer killing installation that took me 3 hrs to undo the damage.
