Comments for The Human SideIt takes more than technology to get ahead, it takes people smarts too. Let's explore the human side of technology! This blog will tell stories, ask questions and start discussions - all about our professional behavior and professional relationships. Welcome to 'The Human Side'.Comment by p_nigam on I Should Know Better- July 29, 2008 It is because of the OVER CONFIDENCE. At any given point of time, what ever we think, is ALWAYS CORRECT. It is only later we know, that whether we were right or wrong. Same is the case here. We do hear our inner voice warning us about the consiquences that may arise, but 'We' become over-confident and take the step, and trying to convince ourself saying ... 'Everything will go right, and 'I'll' be able to manage it'. !! Comment by JB King on I Should Know Better- July 28, 2008 We think we are better than that is about part of that, like your ending a question with a preposition. In leaving the liquid near the laptop it was convenient and you thought you would be careful enough for it to be OK. Kind of like where people drive and take some shortcuts that they wouldn't do on a road test to get the license but do almost everyday if they drive enough, e.g. rolling stops or turning right on a red light, not wearing a seat belt, etc. There is also only so muchhttp://networking.ittoolbox.com/r/rss.asp?url=http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/the-human-side/i... Comment by Charlene on Should- July 22, 2008 Your post is interesting because when I was younger (HS age) my Mother told me that "should" shouldn't be in my vocabulary. Actually it was more for the statements about "They 'should' do something or other..." But it works for oneself. Its like the word "try". You can either succeed or fail. !! Comment by mmeloni on Should- July 21, 2008 Hi JB, Some thoughts on how to transition to the group think tank. 1) Who do you know who works in this environment now Can you do an informational interview with them You take them for lunch or coffee in exchange for info about the environment. You aren't necessarily pushing them for a job, but you are learning what it takes to land that job. Then you can act on what you learn. 2) Research other companiesthink tanks and follow a similar approach.
