Whether you call it enterprise portfolio management, IT portfolio management, project portfolio management, investment optimization or some other term, efforts at optimizing your resource allocation are key to long term organizational success. I abhor unproductive complexity and am wary of many of the purported elixirs out there (most...Comment by nitingoel on What's This Software With No Bells & Whistles- June 14, 2008 Dear Mr SanwalI had been a developer myself and am leading a small team. During last 9 years I have learnt that not many people are as clear as you may be about their software needs. Most of people come with a Req Doc which they never re read before sending for RFQ. They just write a few lines on the idea in their mind and want developers to do wonders to their productproject. As developers do not understand what is required and TL does not have an answer, the developers are told by thehttp://networking.ittoolbox.com/r/rss.asp?url=http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/brilliontblog/wh... Comment by Anand Sanwal on A Foreclosure on Cambrian House Is this the First of Many Crowdsourcing Casualties- June 6, 2008 Gord,Thanks for the note. I didn't see the response to the TechCrunch response you'd posted. My bad and congrats on the move to VenCorps.I hope all works out in the new incarnation as I do want to see one of these models really work in a big way. But at this point, my skepticism for crowdsourcing overall as a business concept remains. Whether it is software development or a new business venture, I'm just not surehttp://networking.ittoolbox.com/r/rss.asp?url=http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/brilliontblog/a-... Comment by gordonmcdowell on A Foreclosure on Cambrian House Is this the First of Many Crowdsourcing Casualties- June 6, 2008 Anand,A Cambrian House community member pointed out your blog post. I'd just to just point out that we feel the TechCrunch article did not accurately represent the transaction. "Asset sale", while technically accurate, is used to imply we've lost control of our platform. In reality, VenCorps is launching an instance of Chaordix, putting much more capital behind the startups than Cambrian House ever tried, and is about to take the model to the next level of refinement... combininghttp://networking.ittoolbox.com/r/rss.asp?url=http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/brilliontblog/a-... Comment by Anand Sanwal on The Right Approach to IT: Watch as Shinsei Bank Demonstrates- June 6, 2008 All,Thanks for your comments. My responses to everyone individually below.Phil - The massive documents are in my view (and most business people I believe would agree with me) are a colossal waste of time because despite the fact that we do them, the projects still don't seem to deliver. It's a common refrain heard from frustrated IT and business people. The other thing that they don't consider is that it is impossible to know everything one wants upfronthttp://networking.ittoolbox.com/r/rss.asp?url=http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/brilliontblog/th... Comment by george.p.alexander on The Right Approach to IT: Watch as Shinsei Bank Demonstrates- June 6, 2008 Just did a quick read...my two cents...The approach addresses the three main challenges of an IT project: It is difficult and costly to map out all requirements before a project starts because people often cannot specify everything they'll need beforehand. Unanticipated needs almost always arise once a system is in use. And persuading people to adopt and "own" the system after it is in operation is much easier said than doneIt's an acknowledged fact today that nohttp://networking.ittoolbox.com/r/rss.asp?url=http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/brilliontblog/th... |
