Double Bad News - August 13, 2008

Haven't been fishing since last week and the last trip turned ugly. Lost my Ray-Ban sunglasses and came home with but three pieces of a four piece rod. Bad karma to be sure.

The unrequited wait - August 7, 2008

Been waiting since February to fish the Whatcom Lake hex hatch which comes off only hot days. Figured yesterday was the day as it was day three of a nice hot spell. Got my fishing buddy, Steve Bohnemeyer, an experienced hex fisher, to change his fishing plans to come along so I could photograph him releasing fish after fish. Since we had to travel to Bellingham, it made sense to make a full day trip so Fazon Lake, a largemouth bass and blue gill lake was the first stop. That was the plan.

Yin and Yang - August 1, 2008

Ran the Yakima River last Saturday from Ringer to Big Piney during the weekend bikini hatch. First time I've floated the river in the last three years and the experience epitomized my yin and yang feelings about the "blue ribbon" section of the river.
