Easiest Noodle Kugel - December 28, 2007

This is a modified version of a recipe from Bon Appétit Magazine (November 1998). This recipe is great because you don't have to precook the noodles. You can also make it without the cornflake topping if you prefer. -- posted by blucoat

Butter Pastry Dough (Gourmet Magazine) - December 28, 2007

This is a simple and foolproof recipe from Gourmet Magazine (May 1995) makes a light and flaky crust every time. Makes enough dough for one pie crust. This dough can be used to prepare the Tomato and Onion Tart recipe I have on here. -- posted by blucoat

Sesame Rings (Jewish Cookies from Spain) - December 27, 2007

These Sephardic Jewish cookies are usually served at Shabbat (Sabbath) dinners and on holidays. A mild cookie, not too sweet, with a pleasant sesame flavor from the addition of the tahini paste. I prefer to form smaller rings than the recipe calls for, about 3" around, which look more dainty on the cookie platter. 5 Minute Veggie Kugel - December 26, 2007

In a rush to have an extra side dish for guests, and not many ingredients at home, I came up with this yummy creation. 5 minutes prep time, 45min cook time, and super low in calories and fat - this can't be beat! Tastes light and lovely! Like all Kugels, this should freeze well, but whoever has leftovers to freeze -- posted by AniSarit

Classic Kugel (Passover) - December 19, 2007

From a newspaper article called Crossing Delancy: Food and History by Judith Segal. This is what was printed before the recipe "Families which follow the tradition of not eating gebruks should substitute potato flour for the matzoh during passover. This challah just might change your life and win you new friends--no joke. I got it from the book, "Jewish Cooking Secrets from Here and Far." It tastes amazing right out of the oven. Make it with margarine and without milk for a pareve bread. -- posted by s_cohen

Leek, Potato & Caraway Latkes With Spiced Sour Cream - December 10, 2007

Aromatic caraway seeds, which add a nutty licorice flavor, may be omitted from the recipe, if you like. The spicy sour cream sauce cools and adds heat at the same time. CookingLight Magazine, December 2001 & 2007 edition. -- posted by DiScharf

Rae's Spit Pea Soup - December 7, 2007

This delicious soup is from my friend Jane's Mom. It's perfect on a fall or winter day. You need some cooked, pureed veggies (I get them from chicken soup like: celery, carrots, onion and maybe parsnip or turnips; About a quart or less. If you don't have any from soup, boil some veggies and puree them! I got between 5-6 quarts with this recipe. Make sure to stir all the way to the bottom of the pot while it's cooking because it could stick and burn! -- posted by Oolala
