BlogsBlogsThis Is Why They ARE Warriors...- September 22, 2008 Yesterday, as the medical staff attended to Dawan Landry on the field of M&T Bank Stadium, players from the Ravens and the Browns looked on in concern. Ray Lewis gathered players near him to pray, and Joshua Cribbs looked on in disbelief. This has become a familiar scene in the NFL. While players grow bigger, stronger, and faster, the risk of injury becomes more prevalent. However, as Landry was carted off the field, future uncertain, the remaining players prepared to continue with the game. But, okay, tie me to a tree in Patterson Park and beat me with Jim Leonhard's cleats. I deserve it. Who the hell am I to say the Ravens won't beat Cleveland It's Cleveland for crying out loud! I'm a cretin. An idiot. A jerk. I know less about the Ravens defense than Paris Hilton knows about the Sicilian one. What the hell was I thinking I doused myself in irish whiskey last night knowing that today (with apologies to Jerry Lee Lewis)there was gonna be "A.http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6331/Default.aspx Week 3 NFL and Fantasy Football thoughts- September 22, 2008 MONDAY 92208 Thoughts!! Who wants to go to Pittsburgh- September 22, 2008 For those of you wondering, these are the good days. The ones where you wake up and all of the years of your sports fandom are rewarded with a magical start to a Ravens season where hopelessness was the offseason prediction. Three weeks ago, Las Vegas had the overunder on wins at six. And business wasnt booming on betting the over, not even here at WNST where we all live to see the purple team win. We love em, but who knew that theyd actually be any good, right This is when the real fun...http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6328/Default.aspx You Play the Coach - Game Ball Picks - Week 2 (and some pics from warm-ups)- September 22, 2008 Another week, another victory, another round of purple kool aid... This is the second installment of "you play the coach," where you get the opportunity to give out a game ball. Just drop me a comment and give a quick explanation. As I stated in my post-game blog yesterday, for the second week in a row, Ray Lewis gets my game ball. That bone-crushing hit he put on Kellen Winslow, Jr. caused the turnover that changed the game. But the main reason he gets my game ball is because of the job he did.http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6327/Default.aspx Browns - Ravens : Tales from the Cleveland side- September 22, 2008 Here is what the papers who cover the Cleveland Browns are saying this morning after the Browns 28-10 loss to the Ravens: Akron Beacon Journal George Thomas says Browns still looking for answers after Baltimore flop George Thomas says Browns are bewildered after starting 0-3 Patrick McManamon says season slipping away for pathetic Browns Cleveland Plain Dealer Tony Grossi says that Browns were manhandled by the Ravens Terry Pluto thinks that the Browns have a quarterback...http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6326/Default.aspx A 2-0 version of 19 points to ponder- September 22, 2008 1. Who was more visibly humbled on Sunday...Sergio Garcia or Kellen Winslow, Jr.2. Interesting. The Tampa Bay Rays are in the thick of a pennant race and they can trot out their 1 draft pick from 2007 (David Price) to pitch a crucial game in Baltimore on Monday night. But the O's can't bring Matt Wieters up for a cup-of-coffee in September when the games don't matter anymore Shameful.3. The strong start by the Ravens just proves that much of what we thought about the NFL going into the 2008 season can be turned around in a few short weeks. For example, this week we have a 2-0 Ravens club coming off two straight division victories playing a 2-1 Steelers team that did not look good against a Philadelphia club that battered Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger. In the other...http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6324/Default.aspx Update on Landry, other injuries...- September 22, 2008 The Ravens were quite concerned about Dawan Landry as was half of the city with that ugly hit just before halftime. By the postgame press conference, they had confirmed that he was in shock trauma and ability to move some extremities. Now, two hours after the game they have confirmed that Landry suffered a spinal cord concussion but has neurologically recovered. He will remain in shock trauma overnight for testing and observation.
