The pairings are out and now it's up to the players to play.Friday morning at 8am, the 37th Ryder Cup matches will begin at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, KY.And for the first time in, well, maybe forever, the United States team is a legitimate underdog in this year's competition with the European side. The U.S. has won just once since 1993 and even then, in 1999, it took a combination of puzzling Captain's work by Europe's Mark James and a final day miracle finish by the U.S. squad to win a..

Poll: Ravens vs. Browns - Your Predictions - September 18, 2008

Coming off of a surprisingly strong week 1 performance and a pseudo-bye week, the Ravens return to M&T Bank Stadium to face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Despite it being early in the season, I think this is a big game for the Ravens. Baltimore has a chance to jump out to both a 2-0 overall record and a 2-0 record in the division, which would already surpass the number of division wins they collected in 2007. They also have theopportunity to put their division rivals in a 0-3 hole. But the...

Laurel Park: Selections for Thursday, Sept. 18th - September 18, 2008

Magna Entertainment, parent company of Laurel Park is contributing $2 million towards the Pro Slots cause. Thats some serious coin and speaks volumes as to how badly the horse racing industry needs this referendum to pass in order to survive beyond 2009. Recapping my selections from Wednesday, Sept. 17th at Laurel Park Best Bet, Classy Credentials ( 1; 4th race; 3-2) was the 4-5 betting favorite but ran into tough racing luck when she was forced to avoid a fallen horse early in the race....

Mid-week thoughts - September 18, 2008

Have you noticed that all three pitchers--Matt Albers, Troy Patton and Dennis Sarfate--the Orioles acquired from Houston in the Miguel Tejada trade have had their seasons end due to injury It looks like I will be wrong with my pre-season prediction that Daniel Cabrera would win more than 11 games. I think its time the Orioles cut ties with DC. He has been a frustrating player to watch over the years as he teases you into thinking that he could be a very successful major league pitcher.
