BlogsBlogsMaking birdies, raising money...- September 18, 2008 We had a great afternoon of golf, fun and friendship today in the 2nd of our 3 WNST Charity Challenge matches at Mount Pleasant GC.I played with three Comcast Morning Show listeners; John Schultheis (many of you who frequent WNST.net know him better as "JWS"), Mark Loraditch and John Flynn.Among the highlights: Mark broke his sand-wedge on his approach shot on the 2nd hole and still made par (go to www.classic5golf.com on Thursday and you'll see a photo of it and a complete recap of the...http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6290/Default.aspx Blog & Tackle: NFL Week 2 quick hitters- September 17, 2008 Just like every year in recent memory, everything you thought about the NFL coming into a particular season is trending in the other direction after two weeks. With that in mind, here are the Week 2 notebook cleaners.Eddie get your guns: Ed Hochuli, one of the NFLs best officials, kicked a big call at San Diego in the closing minutes of regulation. The call has been widely discussed, but whats lost here is an official admittied that he kicked it to the coach on the wrong side of the decision....http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6289/Default.aspx Area Soccer Teams Ranked Nationally- September 17, 2008 The Baltimore-Washington area has always been a soccer hot bed for as long as I can remember. This year is no different with area teams, both high school and college, earning national rankings. At the high school level McDonogh Girls Soccer Team is currently ranked 1 in the latest NSCAA Poll. In the latest Region IV Poll there are three area teams ranked at 1, 9 and 10. Of course, McDonogh is at 1 and Good Counsel is at 9 and Quince Orchard is 10. On the boys side the McDonogh Boy's Soccer Team.http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6288/Default.aspx Even Angelos isn't this bad...- September 17, 2008 Obviously, you're reading this blog expecting me to do another defecating drive by on the Orioles but Ive found solace this morning in the evidence that Peter Angelos isnt the worst owner in sports at least THIS week. No, that title would belong to Al Davis, who has once again proven that he is the granddaddy of obscenely wealthy weird sports owners. Two weeks into the season, Davis has once again taken the term dysfunctional to a new level. We've only had this Angelos guy since 1993. The...http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6287/Default.aspx Wednesday Morning's Crabs and Beer- September 17, 2008 Waters baffles Jays for complete game shutout win. On the surface it looks like a really beautiful book, all color and 192 pages. The best read is the story on OJ Brigance. I know it's all funded by sponsors, but if you ask me, they waste their money. Problem is.....it's outdated, andabout 12 full of advertisements and the same stuff we see in the gameday programs they give us at the games. Of 192 pages 87 have ads. It's a nice gift for us PSL holders, but it'll end up in therecycle.http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6285/Default.aspx Half of you AREN'T going to OPACY- September 17, 2008 With the Presidential election upcoming, we got in the "sample poll" business ourselves yesterday on The Comcast Morning Show. But we were talking baseball, not politics. The question on Tuesday was simple: Have you been to an Orioles game (in Baltimore) this season Obviously, there are only two answers. Yes, you have. No, you haven't.We did roughly four hours of on-air polling and took 30 or so on-line "votes" and the results were almost split exactly 5050. 73 of you "have" been to a game. 74...http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6284/Default.aspx The Fantasy Flavor Positional Power Rankings- September 17, 2008 Here's a look at the top 20 fantasy QBs and RBs so far, and a look ahead to your week 3 match ups.http://wnst.net/WNSTBaltimoreSportsRadio/tabid/36/EntryID/6283/Default.aspx Laurel Park: Selections for Wednesday, Sept. 17th- September 17, 2008 This past Saturday at Monmouth Park Big Brown proved me wrong. He looked like his old self in winning by a length over my choice, Proudinsky, and six other older rivals on a soft turf course. This race was his final prep for the Breeders Cup Classic in six weeks for a potential showdown with Horse of the Year Curlin. Something the entire horse racing communitywould like to see.
