The Best Chicken and Dumplings - May 14, 2008

The best things take a little work, and these are SO worth the extra effort. This is one of those recipes that you'll be remembered for long after you're dead! Oh, and go ahead and double the dumplings, because I promise you'll want them. My mom was famous for these, and I can only imagine she'd want me to share this recipe with everyone I can. -- posted by SilverOpera

Alotizzip Eggplant Soup - May 12, 2008

This is a favorite from my childhood. My mother found it in Sunset Magazine back in the late 70's and made it a winter staple. It's cheap, low in fat, and high in all the good stuff. Leftovers make great lunches during the following week. -- posted by Alotizzip73

Paprika Chicken With Rice - May 12, 2008

Yum!! Kids love it, everyone loves it! I even take the remaining sauce and use it to mardinade beef kebabs... it is such a versatile dish! Enjoy with rice or potato and crusty bread. -- posted by limecat

Our Favorite Black Bean Soup - May 9, 2008

Another family favorite recipe that has been scratched on a piece of paper without knowing where it came from. It's a delicious soup and though we've tried many black bean soups on Zaar and elsewhere and really liked them, this one is our favorite. -- posted by Enjolinfam

French Onion Soup (Soupe á L'oignon Gratinée) - May 8, 2008

Taken from The Best International Recipe, posted for safekeeping. You can substitute Swiss cheese, and use broiler-safe bowls. If you're not sure if your bowls are broiler-safe, set the oven temperature to 500 F. and bake the soup, rather than broil, until the cheese is melted. -- posted by cellogirl2

"the Cake of Wisdom" - May 6, 2008

I found this on a recipe card at the local health-food store. It gets its name from the ginger it uses which is commonly regarded as a "clever" spice... :) -- posted by Lalaloula
