Cedar Planked Fresh Salmon Fillet With Spiced Cranberry Relish - May 19, 2008

This is a traditional and very special way of cooking the omnipresent and excellent fresh salmon that you find in Canada or the Pacific Northwest in the USA! You just have to remember to soak your cedar plank or shingle for at least 3 - 4 hours prior to cooking. The soy and orange marinated salmon fillet takes on a wonderful smoky flavour when cooked this way, and marries so well with the slightly tart and Oriental flavours of the cranberry relish. Serve with garlic-roasted or steamed new...

Los Angeles Ensalada Espanola (L. A. Chopped Spanish Salad) - May 14, 2008

Chopped salads had their hey day in the era of the Brown Derby, with its famous Cobb Salad, but chopped salads are undergoing a resaissance. I had this salad at a local restaurant and have put together my version. It's not from Spain, but has some imported Spanish ingredients such as piquillo peppers (use roasted red peppers if not available) and Idiazabal cheese, a Spanish sheep's milk cheese (probably not in the computer so I've substituted mozarella). The charm of a chopped salad is that..

Baja Fried Fish Taco With Spicy Cabbage Slaw - May 13, 2008

I love these fish tacos. You can find them in many California areas. You can either order the fish grilled or fried and because I love deep fried food, it's always fried fish for me when ordering or making them. Besides the spicy cabbage slaw I also like to top the whole thing with mounds of salsa and taco sauce. Goes great with Pacifico! -- posted by Rinshinomori

Super Simple Potato Salad - May 12, 2008

this is a recipe i learned from my mother, it is tasty and simple with a real down home feel. there are few ingredients but the flavors mesh perfectly without tasting too "busy" hope you enjoy quick tip: peel and quater potatoes before boiling if you are in a hurry...it takes a little bit of the flavor away from the spuds but saves tons of time in cooling and prep! you could also boil spuds the night before and leave them in the frige over night.......thats what i do! -- posted by...

Live Garden Burger (Raw Foods) - May 8, 2008

From Sergei and Valya Boutenko's Eating Without Heating: Favorite Recipes from Teens Who Love Raw Food. They say about it: "You can make nori rolls, cabbage wraps, spread it on crackers, stuff mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and more." I have adapted it to fit in my little Oscar food processor. -- posted by mliss29

Tibetan Mushrooms With Vegetables (Tse Sesha) - May 7, 2008

In Tibet, mushrooms are gathered in the wild for use as a low cost meat substitute. The favorite is Sesha, however since it's not readily available outside of Tibet, other varieties such as oyster mushrooms are used in this dish at the Lhasa Moon, a Tibetan Restaurant located in San Francisco. Shitake mushrooms are an especially good substitute. -- posted by lynnski LA

Baked Fruit Wrap - May 7, 2008

This recipe was a result of boredom one night at work in a local pizza place. Everything is changeable to specific tastes, this is just what we had around. This is really good with a caramel sauce to dip. -- posted by ::::Rowen Jeanne::::
