Chris Glover's BlogTODO: write something herePromote Dan- October 26, 2007 Now that I've set up Date Dan, I have to publicise it. While I'm sure it's a product that a lot of women want, perhaps not a lot of them are aware of it's availability. While a viral marketing campaign would be ideal (especially given it's free for me), I don't think I can rely upon that vector, as such, I'm turning to advertising - Internet advertising. Google offers Adwords, however knowing which terms to target is tricky. Fortunately Google also offer Google Trends, which you can drill down.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/promote_dan Things to do if you're Bored- October 25, 2007 See how hard you can punch yourself. I also saw one on the web: "see how much water you can drink" to which someone had written in theatening to sue the site owner, because they'd tried it with a mate and had spewed all over the kitchen after drinking a few liters.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/things_to_do_if_you In Case You Were Wondering- October 25, 2007 I've been busy... http:www.datedan.co.nr ...probably should get back to what I'm paid to do. Incidentally, it's all hosted and domain-named for free.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/in_case_you_were_wondering On Bitterness- October 23, 2007 If I live with someone long enough, you just stop bothering to repress your emotions or even exercise basic courtesies. Dan "What do you mean there's no Wiki that runs on Windows" Chris "The state of open source Wiki software is a disgrace, I can't believe nobody has managed to come up with a decent implementation. MediaWiki has no WYSIWYG editor, TWiki doesn't run on Windows and terrifies me with how it does plug ins, Confluence looks good, but is a heap of shit when you scratch the surface,.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/on_bitterness Gold- October 16, 2007 Had a lovingly crafted entry all lined up, then the computer crashed and I lost it. I may try and resurrect it from memory at some point, or I may just keep it to myself. In any case I finished the fucking race, exceeded all my expectations on how well I could do, and have a massive list of people who I have to thank for their help in doing so. Results are here.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/gold Tanning Salon- October 9, 2007 Myself and Dan staked out the self-serve tanning bed salon in Bondi Junction from Arthur's Pizza across the road a week or so ago. All I can say, is that, at 8pm on a Friday, there were a lot of couples coming and going from that place. Dan, who usually derives great enjoyment from debunking my paranoid fantasies, had to admit that something statistically significant was going on.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/tanning_salon Trimming- October 7, 2007 Finally got sick on my computer's performance, it shouldn't be as slow as it is, and decided to look under the hood. After switching off half the services, getting rid of the virus scanner (fuck you AVG you pricks), and all the TSR's that they love to install on your machine, it actually goes a lot better. It now passes the all important Magic Sword test (plays Magic Sword without dropping frames), but may behave oddly on a network - if you want to share files, bring a burnable CD.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/trimming CG-7 days- October 6, 2007 We've started our taper, thank god too because the previous two weeks were probably the hardest training of my life. The taper isn't much less intensity than the usual squads, but it's enough to save up a bit in reserve each day, and presumably that will amount to something substantial on race day. Not doubt I'll waste it all in the first few minutes of the race, but it's there, waiting. Might sleep now. It's 1:30pm.http://www.jroller.com/complier/entry/cg_7_days |
