Recipezaar: Caribbean recipesThe newest Recipezaar recipesin:CaribbeanCaribbean Chicken and Black Beans- December 27, 2007 Originally from Shape magazine and adapted to suit my tastes and simplify the preparation. This is healthy and comforting with a pleasing, but approachable combination of spices that even picky eaters will enjoy. Though full of flavor this is not spicy hot, so feel free to adjust to your own tastes. A word of caution, this makes 6 perfect portions for my weight watching lifestyle but if you have hungry eaters at your table, it may only serve 4 or 5. -- posted by justcallmetonihttp://www.recipezaar.com/274099 Coquito- December 21, 2007 I would rather drink Coquitos instead of eggnog during the holidays. I did not see my favorite version posted so I am sharing it with my Beverage Forum buddies for the holidays. Time to make does not include chill time so plan accordingly. Happy Holidays! -- posted by NcMysteryShopperhttp://www.recipezaar.com/273286 Frescavena-Like Oatmeal Drink Mix- December 20, 2007 Similar to the popular Latin American drink from Quaker "Frescavena". This oatmeal based beverage is nutritious and refreshing. My 18 month old daughter loves it and after not finding it anywhere in stores I had to come up with a way to make it myself EASILY. I love this because I can keep it on hand and scoop it into a glass of milk and its ready to go! -- posted by Chef 502806http://www.recipezaar.com/272966 Dominican Pastelitos (Savory Pasties)- December 20, 2007 This recipe found at Aunt Clara's Kitchen. I've used this recipe changing the filling. I've also increased ingredients and more for parties. These can be made ahead of time and frozen till needed. If you freeze, allow them to thaw before deep frying. Can also exchange meat for shredded cheese or fruit jelliesjams for a quick dessert. Hope you enjoy. -- posted by CookingLuluhttp://www.recipezaar.com/272594 Citrus Spice Syrup- December 13, 2007 A delicious base for all kinds of drinks! I've been making these for years. In the 1930s, John O'Hara used to mention these in his novels. I'm sure that Ernest Hemingway drank a million of them! RC Cola works much better than Coke for this one. This is listed under "cocktails" but it's really a highball, only using one liquor. Enjoy! -- posted by Bone Manhttp://www.recipezaar.com/271455 Pineapple Pork Chops (Grilled)- December 11, 2007 Different from the others posted here-this one has cumin and cilantro. From First magazine, 73007. -- posted by Oolalahttp://www.recipezaar.com/270962 Pick up Saltfish- December 8, 2007 I have not made this, but I dream of a balmy day in Jamaica, stopping at a roadside stand and eating this. The saltcod needs to soak overnight, so start this the day before eating. Good for breakfast or brunch with crackers, or even a party snack! Adapted from Bon Appetit. Enjoy! -- posted by Sharon123http://www.recipezaar.com/270465 Piccadillo- December 5, 2007 Serve Piccadillo over yellow or white rice, or carry it to a tailgate party before the football game and stuff into pita bread pockets. Serve with an avocado salad and black beans for a full meal. -- posted by Alan in SW Floridahttp://www.recipezaar.com/269989 |
