It has just the right amount of heat without being overpowering. Make sure to test before salting when making the filling, since there is a lot of salt involved when roasting the eggplant. This recipe came from The New Vegan Cookbook. -- posted by Vegan4TheWinhttp://www.recipezaar.com/294164 Hummus (From Jo Ann)- March 25, 2008 This is a recipe for hummus from a friend of mine who is an excellent cook! -- posted by Taramslhttp://www.recipezaar.com/293929 Warm Winter Vegetarian Chili- March 24, 2008 From FoodTV.ca, this is almost a thick vegetable soup. I served this topped with sour cream and shredded Tex Mex blend cheese and it was a big hit with my husband, who hates vegetables. This can also be made in the crock pot by cooking on high for 3 to 4 hours. Just make sure you saute the vegetables first as this will affect the flavour of the final product. -- posted by Irmgardhttp://www.recipezaar.com/293884 Baked Felafel Sandwich- March 24, 2008 I saw this recipe on FoodNetwork, coursey of Ellie Krieger. It's great!! I snagged it off a recipe card and I like the fact that the hot sauce eliminates a need for loads of salt. -- posted by Mistress of Teahttp://www.recipezaar.com/293687 Mediterranean Chickpea Salad- March 21, 2008 I made this recipe up when asked to make a dish for a Mediterranean themed dinner party that one of my friend's was hosting. It sort of ended up being a MediterraneanIndian fusion and pretty tasty if I do say so myself. -- posted by experimentrixhttp://www.recipezaar.com/293398 Falafel- March 21, 2008 Falafel is a patty made from beans and chickpeas. It's a popular fast food item in Middle East countries and is recognised here in Australia. This recipe comes from a cookbook called Middle Eastern Cookbook by Maria Khalife' the author advises it's an Egyptian recipe. Authors suggest is to serve the falafel with pickles, pita bread and tahini dip. We like eating it with a yoghurt garlic mint sauce or a chilli sauce. I had trouble finding dried broad beans in my region so I used lima beans..http://www.recipezaar.com/293197 Hot for Hummus- March 20, 2008 This is the best hummus recipe I have come across. I always omit the harissa, since we don't like hot hummus but it would probably be tasty with the harissa as well! I always use either organic chickpeas or Bush's chickpeas. Store brands often cause the hummus to taste funny so I avoid them. The recipe came from Vegan Planet. -- posted by Vegan4TheWinhttp://www.recipezaar.com/292987 |
