Carleton Makes List of 25 Cutting-Edge Green Colleges - August 13, 2008

Carleton has been named one of the 25 greenest colleges in the United States, according to the recent edition Kaplan College Guide 2009. The Kaplan Guide features 25 green private and public colleges from across the nation. The section provides students with a look inside the classroom, around campus, and at student life, while shining a spotlight on what's good for the globe at each college.

Carleton Awarded Grant to Evaluate Civic Engagement Efforts - August 13, 2008

Carleton has been awarded a grant from the Minnesota Campus Compact to evaluate the College's civic engagement efforts. Carleton was one of seven state-wide colleges and universities to receive the grant, which is funded through the State of Minnesota's Office of Higher Education. Carleton's "Baseball Ethics" Class Project Goes Online - August 7, 2008

Carleton's "Baseball Ethics" class, taught by Headley Distinguished Visitor-in-Residence in American Studies Willy Stern, is part of a featured post on the Hardball Times baseball blog. The class examined 133 different ethical dilemmas in baseball history, with a goal of ranking all of them during the spring term class. Phyics Professor Pattanayak Paper to be Published - August 1, 2008

Arjendu Pattanayak, Associate Professor of Physics, has a paper recently accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters. His paper, co-authored with Arie Kapulkin of Toronto (no institutional affiliation), is entitled Non-monotonicitiy in the quantum-classical transition: Chaos induced by quantum effects.
