Disclaimer - I am an Innotas employee. Demian, this is an interesting topic. Reading your post made me realize that one of the primary responsibilities and skills of a project manager is to facilitate the conversation. Anyone in the project can look at the tasks at hand, or the schedule or the budget (assuming they have access to this information), but that info isn't enough to make the project happen well; on time, on budget, customer goals met, needed iterations happening, etc.

Thanks for your comment on this post -- it is good to go back and look at things I said way back in 2005. I'm not sure I would make this point in quite the same way today. Today, I might say that a methodology gives the people AND the organization a common language and a map. Where are we going and why How do we get there The key word here is "we."
