I slept in, then spent the morning cleaning my apartment in preparation for Dee's visit. In the early afternoon I watched the DVD of Japanese Story which I'd borrowed from the library. It was also the first time I've been included in one of the legendary catered meetings, and I have to say, the food was fantastic. I just wanted to get a feel for what was out there, but I actually found something that met all my criteria: it was within my price range, it matches my bedside tables and the rest of my bedroom, and, most importantly, it seemed really sturdy. I don't know whether I'll buy it just yet - I'll probably look at a couple of other shops - but it's good to know that it's there. I'd actually been feeling anxious for him, because I had no idea how he'd get through it, particularly when acknowledging Belinda's death. He did very well. I remember thinking when she died how, on top of everything else he'd have to deal with, he's in the worst possible profession for dealing with grief: a comedian hosting a live talk show, a nationally famous media personality.
