We like the taste and texture that the matza develops in this better than traditional lasagna noodles. -- posted by scancanhttp://www.recipezaar.com/294349 Bopka (This is My Mothers Recipe and Her Spelling) or Babka- March 25, 2008 This is a great cake. It's great with coffee or tea and it isn't a sweet cake. Back in the 50s through 80s my mother belonged to an organization made up of many branches that raised money for Childrens Hospital in Columbus, OH. Each branch was called a Twig (she was in Twig 21) and every year they held a huge Bazaar. My mother would bake Bopkas and eventually people started calling ahead of time to reserve a quarter of a cake. The cost went up each year and the last I remember it was $3.50.http://www.recipezaar.com/294214 Peppered Kasha -Buckwheat Groats With Mushrooms and Onions- March 25, 2008 Coat the kasha with egg first to preserve texture (not have mushy cereal) Add lots of mushrooms, onions, and pepper for a NY style Kasha. Buckwheat is not related to wheat and is gluten-free. -- posted by Starblazehttp://www.recipezaar.com/294160 Omi's Spaetlze- March 25, 2008 My grandmother used to make spaetzle. This is a basic recipe which you can add different vegetables to if you wish, or sauteed onions, but these are the proportions that will make the best matzo brei ever! I could eat this all year long, though my cholesterol would be through the roof! -- posted by AniSarithttp://www.recipezaar.com/293793 No Fail Easy Challah Egg Bread Bread Machine- March 22, 2008 easist challah ever -- my bread machine has a quick dough cycle in which only one rise happens -- it is only used for quick yeast. time does not include rise time -- posted by petloverhttp://www.recipezaar.com/293624 Raisin Farfel Kugel (Passover Friendly)- March 21, 2008 You'll want to make this all year long. This is from Allrecipes.com. Prep time includes rest time. Recipe can easily be lightened up by making simple substitutions, 34 cup splenda, 6 egg whites, smart balance light for margarine, and 13cup raisins. Caloriefat count dramatically goes down, and then ww points per serving (9 servings) becomes 2! -- posted by AniSarithttp://www.recipezaar.com/293525 Passover Chocolate Mandelbrot (No Flour, Better Than Biscotti)- March 21, 2008 Modified from a Canadian newspaper - this is AMAZING stuff! The best description of texture I can give is that this is not totally dry, but it's still crunchy. You will be questioned if it's really Kosher for Passover, you will be questioned how this is possible to make without flour. It's possible AND it's delicious, just try it! Don't half this recipe, it makes a lot, but they will fly off your table! Try variations like cranberries and your favorite nut or dried cherries and almonds instead.http://www.recipezaar.com/293486 |
