Recipezaar: Jams & Preserves recipesThe newest Recipezaar recipesin:Jams & PreservesGreen Apple Chutney- April 30, 2008 There are literally thousands of chutney recipes for the home cook. Chutney is a wonderful condiment to have at hand, as it livens up red meat dishes, pork and grilled meats, and can be used in barbecue sauces, in sandwich fillings and in ground meats for extra flavour. Here is a simple recipe. Sterilise bottles by washing, then putting on an oven tin in a cold oven. Heat the oven to 325 deg F160 deg C, and leave the bottles and lids at that temperature for 10 - 15 minutes. And there you have...http://www.recipezaar.com/301331 Silver Spoon Fruity Chutney- April 29, 2008 Chock full of fruity flavours, this chutney is delicious! The recipe should make about 10 cups, so here's a chance to batch-cook enough chutney for your pantry. Delicious with curries. Actually, chutneys go with all red and grilled meats, should be an ingredient in barbecue sauces and can be added to sandwich fillings. Especially good with corned meats. Prep time is a wild guess: I haven't timed it. -- posted by Zuriehttp://www.recipezaar.com/301120 Strawberry Preserves With Black Pepper and Balsamic Vinegar- April 22, 2008 Use fresh strawberries, only freshly cracked black pepper, and the best balsamic you can afford. I actually prefer it with just the balsamic and strawberries. This pickle must be stored in a DARK place, or the cucumbers will lose their colour, and it is best eaten after 2 months. I always try to have a jar or two of this colourful and tangy pickle tucked away in my pantry - as it makes fabulous sandwiches for teatime or picnics, as well as being an ideal accompaniment for simple suppers and light toasted...http://www.recipezaar.com/299697 Pineapple Pecan Conserve- April 20, 2008 This easy and very tasty recipe was given to me by a friend many years ago. A fabulous recipe for a soft set strawberry jam, or rather a strawberry conserve, where most of the fruit remains whole and is suspended in a delicious strawberry flavoured jammy syrup! This conserve reminds me of the traditional Cream Teas you get in the West country of England - especially Devon and Cornwall; a pot of tea served with fluffy fresh scones, butter, thick cream and this strawberry conserve. (Preparation time includes the 2...http://www.recipezaar.com/299326 Winter Fruit Chutney- April 17, 2008 A simple little chutney you can prepare any time of the year, especially nice served with a strong cheddar, it is also delicious with our French Canadian tourtiere. It is so easy to make & it may sound like a wierd combo, but it is very tasty. I've made it with splenda & sugar free jello, which is very good however, it makes a smaller batch. If doubling this recipe, only use 7 cups of sugar. I just put the cooking time on this one because time will vary if you are using fresh or frozen already diced rhubarb. -- posted by Legnahttp://www.recipezaar.com/298801 Six Alarm Chutney- April 16, 2008 This would be a great gift for people at Christmas. -- posted by Chef 718022 - Joanhttp://www.recipezaar.com/298787 Raspberry Rhubarb Jam- April 16, 2008 Simple to make and makes a great Springtime hostess gift. I like to give "The Moms" a jar of this for Mother's Day...they kind of expect it (LOL) My own mother uses it as an ice cream topping. Feel free to use Strawberry Jell-O, or any red flavor. Fresh Rhubarb is best for this recipe. No messy melting parrafin required to seal jars. This one stores in the refrigerator. -- posted by redwinehttp://www.recipezaar.com/298704 |
