Though this was designed for a lunchbox, you could certainly change the servings and serve this for dinner - I did! :) -- posted by CraftScouthttp://www.recipezaar.com/304745 Wasabi Salmon- May 21, 2008 Another dish with a slight bite from Thai Cooking & More -- posted by Beautiful BChttp://www.recipezaar.com/304464 Mighty Miso Soup (With Dashi - Fish Stock)- May 16, 2008 Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup, prepared mainly from miso and dashi (fish stock and seaweed stock, see my recipe for simple dashi). Rich taste, easy recipe, short preparation time and very healthy. This recipe calls for Dashi - a Japanese Fish Stock. This stock really wakes the soup up and is the best way to make miso soup. -- posted by Harmel Rayathttp://www.recipezaar.com/303816 California Tuna Roll- May 14, 2008 I love sushi, and can only make it on special occasions since I am restricted from eating too much rice. But this is good and I would eat it every day if I could get away with it!!! Making the sushi rice is most of the work since the rolls put together in a snap! -- posted by Sue Lhttp://www.recipezaar.com/303661 Dango (Sweet Japanese Dumplings)- May 14, 2008 Dango, my favorite Anime food... Sailor Moon, Clannad, they all have it. I looked around the net and aggregated all the best bits i had tried into this recipe. A lot of it is similar to http:www.recipezaar.com120390 , but i think this is better from experience. Dango are great for a party at your house, or bringing to peoples houses as a thoughtful gift, but i find they taste all the sweeter when you devour them yourself just after cooking :D Try to get Mochiko, it's the best! It looks spectacular however it's easier to make than it looks. However, the sauces should be made in advance, they're simple but take time to marinate, especially the ponzu sauce which should steep overnight. The shiso leaves are available in Japanese stores or, substiture a lettuce leaf. -- posted by lynnski LAhttp://www.recipezaar.com/303437 Boiled Shrimp and Pork Dumplings- May 13, 2008 A couple of weeks ago I went to a market and saw some dumplings in one of the stalls. I wanted to buy some but they were so expensive, so I decided I'd just make them myself. The preparation - filling and shaping the dumplings - does take time, but I think it is worth the result. -- posted by j.sugiartohttp://www.recipezaar.com/303301 Herby Tuna Burgers With Wasabi (Low Fat and Healthy)- May 12, 2008 These tuna burgers are a great way to get people that don't think they like fish to eat and enjoy it. These burgers are very low fat, particularly for a burger, easy to make and taste really good. The wasabi paste I used didn't overpower the other flavors but added a nice background taste but if you wanted a stronger strength you could certainly use more of the paste. The cooking time includes the 30 minute chilling time. -- posted by Sarah_Jaynehttp://www.recipezaar.com/303127 Steamed Buddha's Hands- May 12, 2008 This is based on a recipe from Sonoko Kondo's cookbook, The Poetical Pursuit of Food, sub-titled, Japanese Recipes for American Cooks. Sonoko says in the recipe's intro: "The hand-shaped Chinese cabbage leaves, when stuffed with ground pork, are traditionally said to resemble the graceful hands of Buddha. This dish is steamed, light and healthful." -- posted by mersaydeeshttp://www.recipezaar.com/303113 Dashi- May 9, 2008 Japanese Soup Stock (1 quart) -- posted by Harmel Rayathttp://www.recipezaar.com/302873 |
